Leadership Genesis Project Award

The Leadership Genesis Project Award, formerly known as the William McClain Youth Platform Award, is an award given to an 8th-grade student at A. R. Johnson Health Science & Engineering Magnet School. The award acknowledges an 8th-grade student's character, academic success, and extracurricular activities.

Candidates for the award must:

  • Possess a 3.5 GPA in their high school credit-bearing classes

  • Participate in extracurricular activities

  • Receive a 7+ rating from 2 recommending teachers

  • Have 0 disciplinary infractions during their middle school tenure

Award finalists will receive the following:

  • A monetary award

  • A personalized medallion

  • Their name and year engraved on the award's plaque located in their respective school

  • Mentorship from William McClain, preceding award recipients, and the board of directors of the Leadership Genesis Project

  • Professional work experience in the Leadership Genesis Project

Important Update: For the 2023-2024 school year, the Leadership Genesis Project Award will be expanded to all 14 schools that serve 8th-grade students in the Richmond County School System

Leadership Genesis Project Award Leader of the Year

The Leadership Genesis Project Award Leader of the Year is a special distinction placed on one of the Leadership Genesis Project Award Recipients at a Richmond County School educating 8th-grade students. The Leader of the Year will receive a placement into a pre-college program and a scholarship to financially cover the program's tuition and student's travel related to the pre-college program

Leadership Genesis Project Superior Senior

The Leadership Genesis Project Superior Senior is a scholarship given to an exceptional senior graduating from a Richmond County High School and attending a College/University in the Fall of 2024.
